Dileep is an Indian actor best known for his comic roles in Malayalam Cinema. He is also a singer, an impressionist, and a producer in Malayalam cinema. He has been in the industry for more than 25 years and worked in over 130 films. Find out more about him in Dileep’s wiki.

Gopalakrishnan Padmanabhan Pillai (Dileep) was born in Aluva, Ernakulam district, Kerala on 27th October 1968

Dileep was born as Gopalakrishnan and is the eldest of three children. His father is Padmanabhan Pillai and mother is Sarojam. His younger brother is Anoop and younger sister is Tabitha. He completed his schooling from VVB high school in 1985. Later he joined Union Christian College, Aluva. He did a Bachelor’s in History from Ernakulam Maharaja’s College.

Dileep entered the film industry in 1991 as the Assistant to director Kamal.

Dileep was an excellent mime artist and rendered his voice in Onam-based comic albums “De Maveli Kombathu“, with his friends Nadhirshah and Abi. His talent was first seen on stage shows and Comicola, a television comedy series that aired on Asianet. His portrayal of Dileep in Manathe Kottaram in 1994 opened the gates for his acting career. He was later seen in Films such as Sallapam, Ee Puzhayum Kadannu, Punjabi House, Udayapuram Sulthan, and Chandranudikkunna Dikhil in the late 1990’s. Dileep delivered back-to-back hits in the early-2000s which include Thenkasipattanam, Joker, Ee Parakkum Thalika, Ishtam, Mazhathullikkilukkam, and Kalyanarama.

Dileep won his first Filmfare Award for his role as Madhavan in Meesa Madhavan

His first Kerala State Film Award (Special Jury) was for his performance as Vimal Kumar in Kunjikoonan in 2002. He also won the Best Actor Award for his performance as Mukkom Shajahan in the film Vellaripravinte Changathi.

Dileep produced his first film in 2003 under the banner of Graand Production

Dileep produced and starred in C.I.D. Moosa in 2003. Dileep produced the film Twenty:20 starring most of the mainstream actors of Malayalam cinema which became the highest grossing Malayalam film at that time. He produced the Twenty:20 in order to raise funds for the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).

Dileep tied the knot with actress Manju Warrier on 20th October 1998. The couple has a daughter. Dileep filed for a divorce in July 2014.  The divorce was granted on 31st January 2015. On 25th November 2016, Dileep married actress Kavya Madhavan at the Vedanta Hotel in Kochi.

Dileep and director Nadhirshah were arrested on account of kidnapping and molestation of a South Indian actress

Producer Dileep and director Nadir Shah were questioned for over 12 hours in connection with the kidnapping and molestation of a South Indian actress. The police have reportedly searched an online dress showroom called “Lakshya” owned by Dileep’s wife Kavya Madhavan in connection with the case investigation. According to the latest news on the case, Pulsar Suni had contacted Dileep’s close aide through various mobile numbers several times between November last year and February 2017. Dileep and Nadhirshah may be questioned by the police again.
