Bhavana was born on 6th June 1986 in Thrissur district, Kerala

She is the daughter of Pushpa and assistant cinematographer, late G.Balachandran. Her elder brother is Jayadev is a director. She completed her schooling from Holy Family Girls’ High School, Chembukkavu, Thrissur.

Karthika Menon made her debut in Malayalam Cinema at the age of 16

She made her debut with the Malayalam film Nammal taking the stage name Bhavana opposite debutant Sidharth Bharathan, Jishnu, and Renuka Menon. The film was a big hit at the box office and offers started pouring in for Bhavana. She was crowned with many honors and a Kerala State Special Jury Award for the film. Bhavana got her big break in the 11th Standard. She has starred opposite almost all actors in Malayalam cinema. Karthika Menon was kidnapped and molested by her driver Sunil Kumar

Actress Bhavana filed a complaint against her driver Sunil Kumar on account of molestation and kidnapping. Subsequently, the driver was arrested. Further investigation revealed that Actor Dileep was the mastermind behind the entire act. He was arrested and sent to Aluva jail on 10th July 2017.
