Pipi and Arnab’s College Love!
Pipi and Arnab studied together at The Hindu College, Delhi. Pipi is Bengali, while Arnab is Assamese. Their batch had a low population of Bengali speaking students. Arnab’s fluency in Bengali brought Pipi close to him. In their final year, Pipi proposed to Arnab, who accepted the proposal immediately. Arnab then went to Oxford University for further education and on his return, he married Pipi.
Arnab and Pipi’s Early Life and Family
Arnab has politics in his genes. His paternal grandfather was a Congress leader and a freedom fighter. His maternal grandfather was a Communist leader. His father Colonel (Retd.) Manorajan served the army and later joined politics as the BJP Candidate in Assam. His mother’s name is Suprabha. Arnab always tried to stay away from the political links of his family. In fact, he has always talked about the social work of his family in various interviews.
Arnab and Pipi are also blessed with two kids.
Arnab Goswami’s Fascinating Career!
Arnab Goswami worked as a journalist in The Telegraph for less than a year. His first job was as a news anchor for Television in the year 1995, in NDTV 24X7. He also worked simultaneously as a news reporter for ‘News Tonight’, a DD Metro program. He was influential in changing the content to a 24-hour mode, at NDTV. His exceptional work got him promoted to the job of a news editor, where he would curate, organize and edit content, apart from working an anchor, he used to host a program called News Hour on NDTV.
Post-2006, Arnab Goswami became the news anchor and editor-in-chief of Times Now. The show which aired at 9:00 pm had become a cult watch and left almost every other news program on Indian Television far behind. Apart from interviewing people like Rahul Gandhi, Narendra Modi and Parvez Musharraf, the show’s real prowess lied in its extensive and non-compromising debate. Arnab comes across a person who does not like to toe the line, he likes to come straight to the point and believes in airing his views fearlessly.
Arnab Goswami also hosts ‘Frankly Speaking with Arnab’ where he has interviewed world renowned personalities like Hilary Clinton, Benazir Bhutto and Gordon Brown.
Republic TV – Every End is a New Beginning
Arnab Goswami resigned from Times Now and has started his new venture, a news channel called Republic. However, BJP leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy wrote to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that the name Republic was in violation of Emblems and Names Act 1950. As a result, the name changed to Republic TV.
Republic TV was launched on May 6 as a free-to-air channel through most DTH services and cable television operators, alongside mobile platforms such as JioTV and Hotstar. A state-of-the-art studio has been built in Mumbai’s Lower Parel area.
In an interview with a Bengali radio station, Arnab didn’t shy away to thank his wife Pipi and his kids for their unconditional support.
